Who is Storytorch?
Samantha Tidy is the creativity behind Storytorch. Samantha is an award-winning writer and project manager with over 15 years experience in education, writing and the museum industry.
Storytorch is also a gateway to the services of many other talented individuals whose professional writing and research skills are available when required.
Samantha Tidy began her career as a teacher of English, French and History and spent many years working in large city schools in Perth and London, as well as remote Aboriginal and country settings – always with the ambition of developing literacy skills in young people.
Samantha is a published author in her own right, of several award-winning works of fiction, among them a novel and two children’s books. She has written for major publications around the world as a freelance non-fiction writer (such as Dorling Kindersley in the UK) and she has project managed several long print publications for private clients.
Samantha has worked for many years as a manager in Museum Education, most notably at The State Library of Victoria in Melbourne and The Australian War Memorial in Canberra.
In 2008, she was awarded a research fellowship to work at the Bibliothèque nationale de France (BnF) in Paris to research the services on offer to youth in libraries. She spent four months in Paris examining French innovations in Paris’ top museum attractions.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts (UWA), a Post Graduate Diploma in Education (UWA) and a Masters in Creative Writing - Research (RMIT).
